Update: June 28 at 11:05 a.m.:

Many of you have had additional questions about what staying overnight at the jail would entail and who would get the money raised.

The money raised would be split between the Cole County Sheriff's Department Pacesetter program and the United Way of Central Missouri.

To reserve your stay overnight, call (573)634-9160.

Original Story:

Ever wanted to spend a night in jail without the trouble of being handcuffed and those pesky charges? Now, thanks to the new jail construction in Jefferson City, you can.

The new jail opens for business next month and to celebrate, they're offering a one-night stay in the new building, complete with dinner breakfast and your own private cell. The package costs $30 and includes a booking photo and Cole County Jail t-shirt.

The Cole County Sheriff and County Commission wanted to mark the opening of the new Sheriff's Department and jail. It's located across from the courthouse in downtown Jefferson City.

The ribbon-cutting for the new jail is July 15. Adults can book the one-night stay for July 15 or 16. The jail can house 200 inmates.
