FULTON, MO. -- A Fulton mother is upset over a voicemail accidently left by one of her daughter’s school administrators.

The Fulton High School Assistant Principal thought he hung up the phone...instead the voicemail caught him calling one of his students a derogatory name.

The student’s mother wants the assistant principal to be severely punished.

The voicemail started out like any other you might expect from a high school administrator, but unbeknownst to Assistant Principal Mike Hight, the voicemail kept on recording even after he thought he’d hung up.

Hight said on the phone message, “It was regarding an incident that happened at the bus stop before the kids got on the bus.  Thank you, mam.  Bye, bye. (phone clicks) Move her to the front. Tiarra will sit her fat a-- (laughing). Slap happy! Who said slap happy? Who said that? Who said that? (female voice laughing)”

Hight was trying to reach a member of the Wolfe family to discuss a disciplinary incident involving Tiarra Wolfe, 15.  Tiarra’s mother says Hight defended himself by telling his superiors he “slipped” when he made his comment about her daughter.

Michelle Wolfe said, “We’re supposed to be teaching our kids to not name call and to be respectful and not disrespect. Here we have staff at Fulton High School doing it.”

Fulton School Superintendent Jacque Cowherd said Hight’s behavior was very unfortunate and very unprofessional. Cowherd said his administrators work with staff to prevent this type of situation.

Cowherd also said, “I’m sorry it happened. Mr. Hight has made several apologies to the family. Any discipline against Mr. Hight is an internal and private matter.”

Tiarra’s mother wants to know Hight’s punishment.  She says the hurtful name calling deserves a severe penalty.

Wolfe said, “I don't think its right. I don't think he should get away with it. A kid can't go up to another student and call him a name and get a way with it. I mean, they get punished.”

Hight declined to give us an interview. Hight is leaving Fulton and has taken a job as the new Principal of California High School this fall.

Michelle Wolfe said Hight never apologized to her until she came forward with the recording of his comments.
