St. Robert Police will be joining other departments in a statewide for an aggressive "Click It or Ticket" mobilization to crack down on Missouri's seat belt violations.

The police department reports in their statement that seven out of ten people killed in crashes are unbuckled. They also said that, even with all of the advancements in automobile safety and education on the importance of wearing a seatbelt, Missouri's seat belt use has remained relatively unchanged in the last six years and is well below the national average.

76% of the people in Missouri wear a seat belt when driving, the national average is 85%. Those most likely not to use a safety device are teens, 66%, and truck drivers, 61%.

The extra effort to crack down on seatbelt violations will take place from May 23 through June 5.
