COLUMBIA, MO. -- Members of the Mizzou Tiger Football Team are doing good things on and off the field.

Some of the team’s student athletes performed some community service work around Columbia on Thursday afternoon.

A group of Tiger Football volunteers spent some time at the Columbia Salvation Army’s Thrift Store on Walnut Street.

The athletes sorted clothing and prepared other items for sale.

Defensive End Brad Madison said he gets a good feeling knowing that he can help others in his community.

Madison said, “Anytime that you can get a chance to help out is great.  We have a little time off now.  With our extra time, we can go out and do some things.  It feels good to go out and get comfortable with the community.”

Salvation Army Regional Coordinator Major K.K. Mathews said, “These guys are not just about the football field, but they are about the community field.  The Salvation Army is a field that’s ripe for harvest that needs all of the help that we can get during these days.”

The Tigers also performed some community projects at the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri, Boys and Girls Town, Granny’s House and the Family Counseling Center.
