COLUMBIA, MO. -- If you own a smart phone or an electronic pad or tablet, Turbo Tax has a new application that allows you to file your taxes through handheld electronic devices.
The SnapTax app asks you to snap a photo of your W-2 form.
Then, you answer a few questions and e-file your return.
U.S. Cellular Sales Manager Teri Twyman said, “It allows users to enter preliminary information like marital status, filing status and your number of dependents. They want quick answers to standard questions.”
The cost of using the SnapTax app is roughly $15 to $19 to file your taxes on line.
After you file your return this year, the IRS has a new way of tracking your refund status.
Tax officials have launched a new application for smart phones and electronic pads and tablets called IRS2Go.
The app lets you check the status of your federal income tax refund and get tax updates.
U.S. Cellular Sales Manager Teri Twyman said, “It’s an IRS portal where you enter your filing status, the anticipated amount of your return and your social security number. You can conveniently check your status of your tax return. You can find out if it was accepted by the IRS or if it was rejected by the IRS.”
If you e-file your taxes, IRS2Go reports your status within 72 hours.
Paper filers don’t have it as good.
If you file a paper return, you have to wait 3 to 4 weeks to check your tax refund status.
