A state bill that would require prescriptions in Missouri to buy pseudoephedrine has stalled. According to the bill summary, a hearing has not been scheduled and it is not on the House calendar for this session. The bill had received bipartisan support.
If approved, it would take effect Aug. 28.

A prescription is now required in Belle, Missouri to buy pseudoephedrine, the common ingredient used to make meth.
Saturday afternoon Maries County Sheriff Chris Heitman said he doesn't think the ban will have an immediate impact, but it will inconvenience a few people.
Heitman thinks the biggest impact would be seen if the state legislature passed a law requiring a prescription.
The city of Vienna is also considering requiring a prescription for pseudoephedrine. They are not the only city across the state talking about putting this law into local ordinance. Several cities across the region, including Claremore, Okla. are considering the ban.
They city will likely make a decision at their next meeting the first Monday in May.
