The new pedestrian/bicycle attachment that crosses the Missouri River in Jefferson City is open, so government officials are putting it to good use.

More than 20 legislators, along with state and city officials will lead a bike ride from the capitol to the Katy Trail as part of the opening of the multi-million dollar bridge renovation.

The ride begins at 12:30 at the steps on the south side of the capital, goes across the bridge, and ends at the entrance to the Katy Trail.

The public is encouraged to ride along.

If bike riding isn't your style, you can still see the new attachment up close by taking a pedicab.

Free pedicab rides will be available from 12 - 5 P.M.

Those rides will go from the south steps to the bridge so citizens can get a look at the new attachment.
