Friday night, MODoT crews will begin removing the work zone on the Missouri River Bridge in Jefferson City.
Officials say some periodic lane closures will still take place, but the road will remain open the majority of the time for the next week.
The closures were part of the addition of a bicycle/pedestrian bridge attachment that required narrowed lanes and speed limit reductions for almost a year. The new attachment is meant to provide a safer route connecting the Katy Trail to downtown Jefferson City.
The removal of the road blocks will take place overnight. Saturday Morning, the McCarty Street ramp will be open to traffic. However, the Main Street ramp and new bridge attachment will remain closed while crews finish work on the structure.
A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled to take place next Friday, April 8th, at 10:30 a.m.. MODoT says that ceremony will happen rain or shine. It will be held at the Department of Conservations Carl R. Noren fishing access area on the north side of the river. Following that ceremony the new attachment will be open to the public.
