COLUMBIA, MO. -- State lawmakers and business leaders gathered on the Mizzou campus for the 6th annual conference on Renewable Energy for the Midwest.
The daylong event included discussions of wind energy, biomass resources, solar energy and the economic benefits of renewable energy sources.
Speakers spoke about topics ranging from locating businesses and manufacturing jobs with renewable energy to biomass energy development.
This year’s conference focused on the relationship between renewable energy and economic development.
Columbia Water and Light Energy Services Supervisor Jay Hasheider said, “Missouri has a wide variety of renewables. We’re not really strong in one particular resource, like say, Arizona is in solar. We have an adequate amount of solar, wind or biomass that really gives us a lot of things to work on in the state.”
Organizers said their annual conference helps promote more job opportunities throughout the state and the entire Midwest region.
