JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- A Mid-Missouri middle schooler is raising money for a trip of a lifetime.
She's only 11 and has already been chosen as a People to People Ambassador.
11-year old Alyssa Carter is raising money for a trip to Europe.
Carter was nominated and chosen to be a people to people ambassador.
"I had to do through an interview process and I got picked to go so I’m having a bowling tournament to raise money," Alyssa Carter said.
As a student ambassador Carter will represent her school and community in England and France as she learns about other cultures, participates in activities and meets local citizens.
"I really want to see the Eiffel Tower," Carter said.
22 teams made up of 4 people each participated in the bowling tournament at Westgate Lanes in Jefferson City Saturday.
Each person paid $20 to play.
"It's almost half price, is what we're giving it to them for as far as the bowling,” Westgate Lanes Owner Lonnie Wilson said. “We're making money still and they're making money for a good cause."
Friends, family and even some strangers filled the lanes of the bowling alley.
Carter's grandpa was amazed by the amount of people that bowled to help his granddaughter.
"It's just overwhelming to see that this many people came out in these kind of weather conditions," Alyssa Carter’s grandfather Joe Roberts said.
Carter also sold 50/50 raffle tickets to raise money for her adventure.
"It's a special learning opportunity for her and we would just like to thank all friends and family for coming out and helping her," Roberts said.
Carter's trip will total nearly $6,000.
She will be making her visit across the pond in June.
