STURGEON, MO. -- A 25-year old man turned himself into police after a stabbing in Sturgeon Friday night.

Matthew Bruce of Sturgeon is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and second degree assault after stabbing another man.

Police said the 21-year-old male victim was transported to University Hospital for two slashes to under his arm.

The wounds were described as nonlife-threatening but required staples.

Authorities responded to the incident around on West Smith Street around 6:14 last night.

Sturgeon Police Chief Patricia Bible said she believes Bruce and the victim were acquaintances, and the stabbing was a result of an argument.

Bible said the incident is still under investigation and so far a motive hasn’t been determined.

Bruce was also wanted for prior warrants and has since been released from jail after posting $9,625 bail.
