CALLAWAY COUNTY, MO -- Construction on Highway 63's Cedar Creek Bridge in Callaway County will began next Monday.

The bridge, which carries traffic between Jefferson City and Columbia, will be completely re-constructed

A couple of weeks into construction half the bridge will close completely, which will make for two lane traffic for about a mile.

But MoDOT said traffic delays shouldn't be too bad.

"We are going to keep our speed up a little bit higher. Instead of getting it down to 45 mph we are going to run it up to about 60 mph,” Charles Sullivan MoDOT said. “The intent is we feel we have very good location. It’s flat, it's open, and it's straight. We ought to be able to get traffic in and out."

Electronic message boards will notify motorists of lane restrictions.

The bridge was originally constructed in 1968 and sits near the Boone / Callaway county line.
