4 Columbia drive-by shootings, police name suspect

COLUMBIA, MO. -- Columbia Police are looking for a suspect inconnection with four drive-by shootings.

Police say the shootings are the result of gang activity.

The first call came just before 5pm Wednesday night at Worley and Pennant Streets.

A vehicle was hit but no one injured.  Police say the car hit belonged to someone who was not involved in the gang activity, but witnesses saw a white pick-up drive off.

About 6:15pm another call came in  for shots fired at Circus and Rogers.

Witnesses saw a man shoot at an unknown target. No one was hurt. Police found shell casings but no victim.

Then just before 8:30pm, another report came of shots fired at Aztec and Ballenger Lanes. Again witnesses saw someone speed away from the scene.

Police say Wednesday night's shootings are related to one on Interstate 70.

Police say the person whose car was hit on the roadway was not involved in the gang activity and was not hurt.

Columbia Police have named a suspect.  They're looking for 17 year-old Jordan Smith.

Police have not released a picture of Smith, but describe him as a black man, 5'08", 145 lbs, and driving an older model white pickup truck.

Smith is wanted for First Degree Assault and Armed Criminal Action.  He should be considered armed and dangerous.
