Ameren crews work to restore power after lightening hits this power pole in Jefferson City.
Update: 5:51 p.m.:
Parts of mid-Missouri are cleaning up after Friday afternoon's series of strong thunderstorms.
Boone County Emergency Management says it has received reports of minimal damage to roofs and trees over the roadway near Ashland and some damage to utility poles over Route N. at Highway 124.
As many as 550 Ameren customers lost power in Boone County, mostly in the Hallsville and Centralia areas.
In Jefferson City, lightening struck a power pole on Ten Mile Drive.
Ameren Missouri crews arrived quickly to fix the blown transformer.
As many as 70 customers in Jefferson City, by 6 p.m. all power had been restored in the capital city.
The storms hit just as many students were being released from school.
Some schools decided to keep students inside until the storms passed.

All tornado warnings for mid-Missouri have been cancelled.
Most of the mid-Missouri region remains under a severe thunderstorm watch until 7 p.m.

A tornado warning has been issued for Southwestern Lincoln County, Montgomery County, and Northern Warren County until 5:00 p.m.
Doppler radar indicated a severe squall line capable of producing brief rain-wrapped tornadoes in addition to widespread straight line wind damage.
This dangerous storm was located near big spring, or 9 miles north, of Hermann and moving east at 50 mph.
Update: 4:15 p.m.:
A Tornado Warning has been issued for Southern Ralls County, Southeastern Monroe and Western Pike until 4:45 p.m.
Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. This dangerous storm was located near Farber, or near Vandalia, moving northeast at 40 mph.
Update: 3:50 p.m.:
A Tornado Warning has been issued for Eastern Audrain County, Southeastern Monroe County, Western Pike County, Southern Ralls County until 4:45 p.m.
At 3:46 p.m., doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado. This dangerous storm was located near Mexico and moving northeast at 40 mph.

A tornado warning has been issued for Southeastern Boone County, Central Callaway County, Montgomery County until 4:15 p.m.
National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated a severe squall line capable of producing brief rain-wrapped tornadoes in addition to widespread straight line wind damage.
The dangerous storm was located 7 miles northeast of Ashland and moving east at 45 mph.

This storm was located near Midway, or 10 miles northwest of Columbia, and moving east at 30 mph.
Locations impacted include: Columbia, Centralia, Sturgeon, Hallsville, Murry and Harrisburg.
Severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect for southern Howard and northern Cooper counties until 2:45 p.m. Friday.
At 2:37 p.m. National Weather Service Doppler Radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and quarter size hail.
This storm was located near Rocheport, or 9 miles southeast of Fayette, moving east at 35 mph.
