COLUMBIA, MO. -- A former Mizzou football star and NFL player is now fighting for consumers.

Better Business Bureau Branch Manager Adrian McBride says his new Columbia office allows him to better serve customers and business owners.

Since his office first opened in August, McBride said he’s protected consumers and the public from unscrupulous companies and scams.

The Better Business Bureau is a non-profit organization that upholds standards for fair and honest business behavior.

McBride is a one man show in his Columbia branch office.

He gets back up support from the BBB’s main office in St. Louis.

McBride said, “We’re kind of like the referee in the football games.  We’re sitting on the fence.  We’re listening to both sides of the story.  We try to bring them together and resolve any issues and complaints they may have.”

You can read Columbia Bureau Chief Mark Slavit’s entire interview with Adrian McBride in this month’s edition of Inside Columbia Magazine.
