COLUMBIA, MO. -- Missouri 9th District Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer wants to kill federal funding for climate change.

House Members passed Luetkemeyer’s budget amendment that would stop the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change from getting $13 million.

President Obama requested the funding for the climate change panel.

Luetkemeyer believes global warming activists have a political agenda instead of a scientific agenda.

Luetkemeyer said, “They’ve been proven to show that they have fudged the numbers and that they are not a very reliable source.  They have actually doctored up reports.  As a result, I felt that it was not worthy of our taxpayer dollars to fund those folks, so I defunded them.”

Luetkemeyer said it is unlikely that his budget amendment will clear the Senate controlled by Democrats.

Luetkemeyer is working with other members of Congress to reduce federal spending by $100 million over the next 7 months.
