JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Mail still hasn't been delivered to about 40 homes in Jefferson City since the snow storm as of Friday.
The post office said that's because the areas in front of the mailboxes are not clear of snow and that it's not safe for mail carriers.
Jefferson City Postmaster Don Knoth said he hopes the warm weather will melt snow and encourage people to get out and shovel snow away from their mailboxes.
"We certainly appreciate the people that cleared out in front of their mailboxes and we apologize to people that didn't get mail delivered but it deals with the safety of our employees on how we deliver the mail and that's very important to us as it is delivering mail to our customers," Knoth said.
KRCG checked with the Columbia Post Office Friday and they said they're also taking mail out daily to all cleared mailboxes.
