Update: Wednesday Feb. 9th at 10:21 a.m.:

The Missouri Highway Patrol released the name of the Fulton High School senior injured in a car accident with a South Callaway School Bus on Wednesday.

According to the Highway Patrol crash report, Zachary Oliver, 17, of Fulton was driving a 1996 Buick when the accident occurred. Law enforcement said Oliver slid through a stop sign on ice into the path of a South Callaway bus.  

Kaitlyn McDonald, 16, of Steedman, and Rylee Oldham, 6, of Steedman were on the bus when the accident happened and both were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Officials said the accident happened 1.5 miles east of Route CC on Route O.

Oliver is listed in critical condition at University Hospital in Columbia.


Update: Wednesday Feb. 9th at 10:21 a.m.:

Family friends tell KRCG that the high school senior involved in this morning's school bus accident in Callaway County is alive and being treated at University Hospital in Columbia.

The accident happened on Route O, a eyewitness said the teenager was pulling out of the Wildwood Lot Owners' Association parking lot when he hit black ice and slid into the path of the oncoming bus.

The boy is reportedly a senior at Fulton High School.

Update: Wednesday Feb. 9th at 9:30 a.m.:

A loaded school bus and a passenger car crashed on Route O in Callaway County Wednesday morning.

The Highway Patrol confirms the South Callaway school bus was carrying students.

And on-looker tells KRCG the occupant in the car appeared seriously injured. The Highway Patrol said the occupant is "non responsive".

Snow started falling in Mid Missouri in the overnight hours. Totals are looking like they'll be about an inch around the KRCG viewing area. The more southern parts of the viewing area could get slightly more. Only flurries are expected until about noon Wednesday, but temperatures are going to remain very cold through the day and overnight hours into Thursday.

Even though the snow amounts aren't that large, that small amount of snow is making it tricky for area cars and school buses. We've heard reports of several accidents in the area, mainly slide-offs. And viewers have told us roads are slick. One accident left an SUV flipped over on Highway 54 near Jefferson City.

KRCG has nearly 80 school and community cancellations, closings, delays and snow route announcements. 

Jefferson City Public School have cancelled classes for Wednesday. According to what JCPS Spokesman David Luther told KRCG earlier this week, today's snow day means the last day of the school year will now be the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend.
