COLUMBIA, MO. -- Street protests continue for the 7th straight day in Egypt.

The uprising against Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak shows no sign of letting up.

Former Missouri Senator Kit Bond discussed the problems in Egypt during a trip to Columbia on Monday.

Bond said Egypt has been a very good friend of the United States for a long time.

Bond said the Egyptian people have a right to voice their opinions through protesting.

Bond said, “Their government has clearly fallen out of favor.  We have taken strong positions saying that the people of Egypt deserve the right to have a fresh look at their government and get the kind of government they deserve.”

Israeli Officials said on Monday that they have agreed to let the Egyptian army move several hundred troops into the Sinai Peninsula for the first time since the countries reached peace 3 decades ago.
