The man charged in the death of an elderly Columbia woman has a preliminary hearing Monday afternoon in Boone County court.
21-year-old Ryan Bridger is charged with second degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of 67-year-old Aletha Turner.
Turner was the aunt of Bridger's girlfriend. She was shot in the head in her home on Dewey Lane. She was alive when relatives found her on December 20, but died two days later.
Two days after that, deputies arrested Bridger, who was also wanted for burglarizing the home of Turner's brother. He is being held in the Boone County jail on a $1-million bond.
