Missouri is getting federal money to help small farmers become more energy-efficient.
Later today, Governor Jay Nixon will announce the launch of a new program that will help the state's farmers advance their operations to become more energy-efficient and profitable.
The program is funded by a $5-million competitive grant from the U.S. Department of Energy.
Joining the governor will be the director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture Dr. Jon Hagler, representatives of the Department, representatives from the University of Missouri Extension, and EnSave Inc., a company partnering with the Department of Agriculture on this project.
Governor Nixon will make that announcement in the truman room of the Capital Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City, it will happen around 9 A.M.
