JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Before they consider any of their own legislation, Missouri senators are setting aside a week to review cost-saving suggestions from the general public.

Senators are to divide into seven small groups this week as part of their "Rebooting Government" initiative. People can submit ideas for streamlining state government by clicking on a suggesting box on the Senate's website. The ideas then will be reviewed by senators.

This marks the second straight year the Senate has broken from its normal business to brainstorm on money-saving ideas.

Last year, senators received 1,500 suggestions from the public. Only a few made it into law.
