A new device could be making school buses safer for the new year.

The device is meant to keep sleeping students from being left on the bus.

A growing number of districts are adding alarms that sound if drivers fail to walk to the back of their buses to deactivate them after finishing their routes.

Transportation provider First Student has installed the devices on all its school buses. They provide transportation for several districts in Missouri.
