JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- Thursday's dry roads will give way to very different conditions Friday.

Highway 54 was clear Thursday afternoon and MoDOT wants to keep it that way.

As of Thursday afternoon the roads had not been treated but MoDOT said they are ready to deploy their crews to treat and plow roadways as soon as the wintery mix comes into Mid Missouri.

"We'll have our equipment ready to go when we go home tonight,” MoDOT area engineer Alan Trampe said. “The plows will be on, the spreaders will be in the trucks. All we'll have to do is probably have a couple of people watching at each location. We use communication amongst ourselves, the department, and we talk between districts."

MoDOT warned drivers to make sure they slow down and pay attention to the roadways.
