COLUMBIA, MO. -- Another change has been made in the Columbia Police Department connected to a recent sex scandal.

Beginning Monday, Jessie Haden, one of the officers who has handled media contacts will be reassigned to patrol.

Chief Ken Burton said it is in relation to Deputy Chief Tom Dresner's recent resignation, but would not comment further.

Dresner resigned over the discovery of an affair with a subordinate.

Burton indicated he's lost confidence in Haden as a public information officer.

"The PIO represents the entire police department and i wanted to make sure we had the right person in that position that the department's officers felt represented and had confidence in and so i made a change," Columbia Police Chief Ken Burton said.

Chief Burton said Haden's move is lateral and does not increase nor decrease her rank or pay.

Officers throughout the department will be able to apply for the information officer position.

The chief said the department will look at candidates after the first of the year.
