COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) -- Some fur is flying at the University of Missouri after an internal newsletter was published with a recipe for "Kung Pao Kitten."
The recipe was one of two "Recipes of the Month" in the December issue of Staff Spotlight, a newsletter within Missouri School of Medicine's Department of Surgery. About 90 employees receive the newsletter.
The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that the recipe is similar to kung pao chicken but calls for using boneless kitten meat.
An anonymous complaint to the Tribune said many employees thought the recipe was offensive and should not have been distributed in a professional environment.
The department issued a statement acknowledging the material was inappropriate. The staff member who submitted it has apologized.
