Area communities celebrate with living windows

Both Jefferson City and Columbia officially open the holiday season Friday with downtown Living Window Festivals.

In Jefferson City, the event begins with the tree lighting and candlelight tours at the Governor's Mansion at 6 p.m.

Columbia's event takes place in The District, Jefferson City's is along High Street

In both cities, participating businesses will be staging live performances of popular holiday scenes in their windows.

In addition to live music, Columbia will feature free carriage rides, Jefferson City will have hayrides through downtown.

Santa will somehow make it to both events.
