ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A Bridgeton man accused of shooting a St. Louis police officer is jailed on $250,000 bond. Police say the officer saw a man acting suspiciously. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the officer pointed his spotlight at Arthur Jones, who suddenly turned and began shooting. The officer was struck in the buttock and was treated at a hospital and released.
