JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri motorists will have fewer construction barrels to dodge while traveling for Thanksgiving.

The state Department of Transportation planned to stop lane-reducing work on interstate and state highways at noon Wednesday. Construction work is to begin again Monday morning.

State transportation officials said there still will be lane closures where permanent barriers have been installed, and work crews also might continue construction on closed roads.

Officials also will close lanes when needed for emergency maintenance.
