COLUMBIA, MO. -- Columbia police are investigating three separate areas of town where there have been some car break-ins.
The first series of thefts were concentrated along Clark Lane near The Links apartment complex.
The second reports of vehicle break-ins came from the entrance to the Katy Trail on Forum Boulevard.
On Thursday morning, officers took more reports of thefts that appear to be concentrated in the Parkade Neighborhood in the northwest part of the city.
Columbia police are asking citizens to protect their personal items by not leaving them in vehicles, especially during the overnight hours.
Officers suggest that you always lock all car doors.
“In almost all of the ones that were reported, it was the glove box and the center console that was rifled through," Columbia Police Officer Jessie Haden said. "We’re urging people, even when they lock their doors, if they are leaving property in their cars, especially overnight, to make sure there is nothing of value in the center console or the glove box, either.”
Since Nov. 4, Columbia police have received 21 reports of vehicle thefts.
If you have any information about these crimes, police urge you to call Columbia CrimeStoppers at 875-TIPS.
