JEFFERSON, MO. -- St. Mary's Health Center unveiled its latest technology Wednesday.

The Jefferson City Hospital welcomed the new ultra high resolution C-T Scanner.

The high-tech device can scan the entire body within seconds.

The scanner isn't just fast, it's a rare piece of medical machinery in Missouri

"This is the first Phillips scanner in the state, 128 CT scanner in the state," Director of Medical Imaging, Scott Langley said.  "There are not very many of them around, there are very few of them across the country actually so we are very excited and very fortunate to have that technology."

The scanner also will give physicians more precise 3-D images for diagnosing and treating illnesses.

A grant from Congressman Ike Skelton allowed the hospital to buy the new technology.
