KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Poll workers in Missouri are having problems accessing the state's online voter registration database.

Laura Egerdal, spokeswoman for the secretary of state's office, said poll workers reported Tuesday that they are having problems trying to search a voter registration database. The database is used if a voter is not listed on a printed voter registration list.

Egerdal said the problem has been occurring statewide since the polls opened. She said the problem does not affect any other aspect of administering the election or counting vote totals.

She said counties have their own voter registration databases, which they can check.

But Lloyd Smith, executive director of the Missouri Republican Party, said if local precincts can't access statewide voter lists, it's a "critical problem."
