Update: Tuesday, Oct. 19 10 a.m.
A suspect is still on the loose after a high speed chase in Boone County early Tuesday morning.
The chase started when an Ashland resident called authorities after hearing shots fired. When the resident looked out his house window, he saw a person and truck on his property.
As Boone County Sheriff's Department officers approached the area, they saw a truck speeding away from the scene. Deputies followed the truck; but it wouldn't pull over. A deputy put out spike strips and the truck finally came to a stop in a field in the 8300 block of Zumwalt Road.
The suspect got out of the truck and ran on foot. Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area for an hour. The suspect was not found. Officers called off the search for safety concerns when they were nearing the bluffs. Officers had the truck towed.
KRCG will have more details on the suspect as they're available.
