A certification hearing has been scheduled for the 12-year-old accused of killing his mother and step-father.

The purpose of the hearing will be to determine if the juvenile should be tried as an adult said Chief Juvenile Officer Tammy Walden in a media release.

During the certification hearing, a judge will decide whether the boy should be tried as an adult on two charges of first degree murder for the deaths of Rachael Duncan and Jaeson Duncan.

The 12-year-old is accused of shooting the Duncan's in their mobile home in Kaiser, Mo. on July 5.

On the night of the murder, neighbors said that the boy told them he was being abused by Jaeson. (Read more)

During a detention hearing in Tuscumbia, the judge ruled the juvenile should remain in custody at the Mary Dickerson Juvenile Justice Center in Camdenton, Mo., pending a certification hearing. (Read more)

Certification hearing is scheduled Wednesday, Nov. 17 at 1 p.m.
