JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- The Jefferson City Council plans to separate a proposed animal control ordinance into three independent questions before voting on the issues at Monday night’s meeting.
During a recent planning session, one council member indicated a desire to divide the question.
The proposed ordinance sets new limits on the number of pets in a household. It also prohibits leaving animals inside cars on hot days and outlaws the feeding of strays living in public parks.
By dividing the question, council members can reject one provision without canceling the others.
