COLUMBIA, MO. -- A new sports medicine partnership is helping treat University of Missouri athletes.

Doctors from the Columbia Orthopaedic Group and the University of Missouri Orthopaedic Institute will now work as a team to care for teammates within the Mizzou Athletic Program.

The agreement eliminates any previous competition between the two groups of physicians.

The new sports medicine partnership gives athletes a wider selection of doctors to choose from.

“I think everybody wins," MU Health Care Surgeon Dr. James Stannard said. "I think my department wins. I think the COG wins. The really big one is that the athletes win.”

The contract for the new sports medicine partnership to treat Mizzou athletes lasts for the next decade.
