Lake of the Ozarks to host water marathon

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. (AP) -- A community group that works to promote water quality at the Lake of the Ozarks is hosting a weekend endurance race for adventure paddlers.

The 2DamDays Kayak and Canoe Marathon is set for Saturday and Sunday at the Lake of the Ozarks.  The 89-mile race begins at Truman Dam and concludes near Bagnell Dam.

Competitive canoeists and kayakers will battle for more than $13,000 in prize money. A recreational race is set for Saturday.

The Lake of the Ozarks Watershed Alliance also will promote its mission with environmental education booths and exhibits.
