LAKE OF THE OZARKS, MO. -- A third person drowned over the Labor Day weekend at Lake of the Ozarks.
The Missouri State Water Patrol said four men were on a boat near the 65 mile marker in Stover, Mo. at about 8:30 p.m. Monday.
The patrol said the men needed to urinate. Three of them went to the same side of the boat, which caused water to spill into the boat, swamping it. The water patrol said the men started swimming to shore, but Donald Johnson, Jr., 46, went under and didn’t resurface.
The Ivy Bend Fire Department found Johnson’s body floating about two hours later.
Johnson was from Lansing, Kan.
Two other people drowned at Lake of the Ozarks during the Labor Day holiday weekend. Another woman died after the boat she was on drove full-speed into docked boats.
Overall, four people died in water-related incidents over the holiday weekend.
