Police are looking for Jerry White, 26, of Jefferson City after he fled on foot into a wooded area.
Police located White’s vehicle after he fled the scene of a shooting on the 1200 block of East McCarty. Police conducted a traffic stop on the 2200 block of Timberlake Road. White was the passenger in the car when he fled into a wooded area.
White fired two shots from a handgun at police before he ran into the wooded area.
The Jefferson City Police Department and the Cole County Sheriff’s Department established a perimeter around the area to search for White.
White was not apprehended by police during the search.
White is considered armed and dangerous.

Police investigated shots fired in Jefferson City late Thursday.
It happened in the 1200 block of East McCarty Street around 10:30 pm.
The suspect fled the scene as officers arrived and two more shots were fired.
Officials said they do not believe the shots were aimed towards them.
