KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- After being delayed nearly a month by high water and fast currents, the Missouri River 340 race is set to begin.
The race goes from Kansas City, Kan., to St. Charles. Racers are expected to be completed Thursday or Friday.
Race organizers say participants are allowed exactly 88 hours to complete the course. Participants are required to check in at nine checkpoints along the route. Jefferson City is one of those checkpoints. Only two-thirds of the teams completed the course last year.
