ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Arson is suspected in a small fire at a campaign office of Missouri Congressman Russ Carnahan, and one man was taken into custody.
The St. Louis Democrat's campaign press secretary says there was minor damage from the fire early Tuesday, but the office remains open.
The campaign office is located in south St. Louis. KTVI-TV reports a witness called 911 around 2:20 a.m. after hearing glass breaking and smelling smoke coming from the back of the office.
Firefighters and police arrived and put out a small fire.
Police gave no details about the arrest Tuesday, saying only that the person in custody is a white male.
Russ Carnahan is running for his fourth term in the U.S. House. He faces Republican Ed Martin in November.
