JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Democratic Senate candidate Robin Carnahan is airing her first TV ad, focusing on Republican Congressman Roy Blunt's support for financial bailout legislation.
The bill authorized up to $700 billion to shore up troubled banks and other financial institutions.
Carnahan's commercial says Blunt took charge of passing the measure and has collected campaign donations from the financial industry. It calls him "the very worst of Washington."
The Carnahan campaign is running the spot in markets throughout Missouri.
Blunt's campaign called Carnahan's ad hypocritical and deceptive.
Blunt helped negotiate details of the bailout bill and round up enough House votes to pass it in 2008. He has said he supported the initial $350 billion paid out under the bill but opposed using the rest.
