JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Missouri Supreme Court has upheld a $1.8 million judgment against a licensed clinical social worker for Medicaid fraud.

Tuesday's ruling by the high court affirmed a decision by a St. Louis County court in a case against Stephanie Spilton.

As part of an attorney general's investigation, Spilton had been accused of submitting 325 false claims for Medicaid reimbursement in 2004. The Supreme Court said Spilton signed a statement in 2007 acknowledging she had sought payment for services she did not provide.

Spilton appealed the judgment against her on grounds that there was a factual dispute about whether she knowingly submitted false claims. The Supreme Court rejected her arguments.
