BRANSON, Mo. (AP) -- A man described as a person of interest in a Texas homicide is in custody following a standoff at a motel in the southwest Missouri town of Branson.
City spokesman Jerry Adams said the man walked out of a room at the Walnut Lane Motel just after 3 p.m. Tuesday with his hands on top of his head. He was turned over to federal marshals.
The 51-year-old man had been holed up since about 6:30 a.m. Tuesday. Adams says no shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident.
The standoff began when an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of one used in the weekend robberies of two Branson motels. A check of the license plate showed the vehicle had been stolen in Hays, Texas.
Adams said detectives from Hays were on their way to Branson to check the vehicle.
