JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- An elderly woman was taken to the hospital Monday night after slamming her car into a brick wall on Ellis Boulevard.

A witness said the woman appeared to hit the gas instead of her brakes as she left the Sonic Drive-Thru in near Highway 54.

She shot across the street, through a convenience store parking lot, and over a small retaining wall before hitting the side of the capital view self storage strip mall.

The vehicle ended up on its right side, with the airbags deployed.

First responders had to cut the car open to get her out.

The woman was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
