The Missouri Department of Transportation is suspending most highway construction and maintenance work throughout the state this weekend to accommodate an expected increase in traffic due to the Memorial Day holiday.

Work will stop at noon on Friday and resume Tuesday morning.  Still, some lane and bridge closures will remain in place.

“We want to do all we can to be out of the way, so travelers can get where they’re going quickly and safely this Memorial Day weekend,” said Don Hillis, MoDOT’s director of system management.  “However, it’s likely some lanes will remain closed so work can resume quickly once the holiday is over.”
