BOONE COUNTY, MO. -- A partnership, between Columbia College and the Southern Boone County School District, will benefit public school students, their teachers and Columbia College students.
Columbia College President Gerald Brouder and Southern Boone County Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charlotte Miller officially signed the papers on Monday morning that created the unique partnership.
The agreement allows Columbia College education students to get classroom experience at Southern Boone County High School in Ashland, while high school faculty has an opportunity to take a complimentary master level class.
“We’re just excited to be able to offer opportunities for Columbia College students to gain real practical experience in our school district," Southern Boone County Schools liaison Bob Simpson said. "We’re excited to be able to tie into the quality resources of Columbia College.”
“It’s about all of the things that Columbia College students have learned from the program, such as the wonderful teachers they have worked with," Columbia College Assistant Professor of Education Dr. Kristi Miller said. "The administration has been great. It’s a very positive experience for our students. We would not want to let go of that in any way.”
The partnership between Columbia College and the Southern Boone County School District has been underway through an informal program for quite some time.
