Jefferson City man dies in car accident

JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- A Jefferson City man has died after his vehicle went off a rock bluff.

The highway patrol says 38 year old James Gierke of Jefferson City was speeding northbound Monday afternoon just southwest of the capital city on Foxdale Drive and didn't stop at an intersection.

He crossed over South Country Club Drive and ran off a rock bluff, landing on Route C.

The car was sent airborne again and struck a rock bluff head-on.

Gierke was pronounced dead at the hospital.
