Nearly two dozen homes burglarized

MORGAN COUNTY, MO. -- Detectives said they've arrested a suspect involved in a burglary ring in Morgan County.

The Morgan County Sherriff’s Department said DNA evidence led them to arrest Bryce Vittetoe, 22, of Jefferson City.

The 3-month-long investigation started after a rash of home burglaries in the area of Rocky Mount.

Detectives report that 23 residences were burglarized, almost all were vacation homes.

The thieves took mostly expensive flat screen TV’s.

The sheriff's department said the Highway Patrol's Crime Lab rushed the processing of DNA evidence, which identified Vittetoe, who was arrested at his Jefferson City Home.

Detectives had earlier reported that one of the burglars cut himself at one of the homes, probably on the arm. But detectives wouldn't confirm if that's where the DNA evidence came from.

The sheriff sa
id they devoted hundreds of extra man hours to the case and to extra patrols throughout the county.
