JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Jefferson City police say a man's death that was first considered a likely suicide is now being investigated as a suspicious death.

Micah J. Rooney of Jefferson City was found dead in a car Thursday night in a parking lot, and authorities said the death was a possible suicide.

But police spokesman Mike Smith said Monday that some things didn't add up and Rooney's death is now considered suspicious. Smith would not say how Rooney died or explain what led investigators to consider it suspicious.

The Jefferson City News-Tribune reports that Rooney was a Jefferson City man who was a member of the Missouri National Guard. He was reported missing Thursday night shortly before his body was found.
